The recent project on the church structure involved an eleven lift scaffold to the tower and South elevation of the Nave and Chancel to restore the deteriorated Cedar shingles to the tower spire plus timber repairs and lead roofing.
Pimy’s Ltd were appointed as CDM Coordinators pre 2015 and subsequently as Principal Designer for the project which spanned the transition to the new regulations.
The project is well documented on line and the work of restoration was a highly fragile operation due to both height and weight of the supporting timbers. It was estimated that the pinnacle supported a cast iron weather vane in excess of 5cwt.
The project was financially supported by Historic England and involved the stripping of the Cedar shingles from the spire, repairs to the structure, removing and restoration of the weather vane and strengthening the complete framework.
Alongside this extensive repairs to the stonework and re-leading of the Nave roof.
The contractor and designer produced highly skilled input and experience with comprehensive risk assessments to undertake this project overseen by ourselves.
